Who We Are
Rob Hobson, the owner of Hobson Masonry Ltd. and most recently Hobson Landscapes, completed a 4 year apprenticeship in Cornwall England, during this period he worked on stone projects all over England consisting of: barn conversions, bridges, houses, fireplaces, chimneys, restoration work, landscaping and flagstone.
Rob immigrated to Vancouver Island in 1990 and immediately formed J.R. Hobson Masonry. His company completed projects in all types of masonry including brick, block and stone. The island didn't offer enough challenge so Rob looked to other parts of Canada and after extensive research in 1997 decided to move to Ontario. In 2000, the company became incorporated into Hobson Masonry Ltd. Our “English rubble stone" style of stonework has become our trademark.
Although Hobson Masonry Ltd. has completed several hundred brick homes in Simcoe County and Muskoka, we felt something bigger calling us back to our origins and decided the timing was right to specialize in stonework. We expanded our work area to include the Escarpment, Georgian Bay, Simcoe County, Muskoka and Haliburton. Hobson Masonry Ltd. quickly got a reputation for quality workmanship, being on time and staying within the quoted budget of each project. When we are on a job site, we always make sure that our work area is safe, organized and tidy and that our employees are cordial. At Hobson Masonry Ltd., we have all the necessary equipment and personnel to work quickly and efficiently.
At Hobson Masonry, we draw our inspiration from our homeland of England and thus have used the Yorkshire Rose as our logo.
With Hobson Masonry, no stone goes unturned.
